Pre-Natal Yoga with (Sub) Jonah Montes
Introduction
Andrea Rasla:
Andrea started practicing Iyengar yoga in 2002 as a way to calm the mind and gain personal balance while working in a stressful corporate environment. She continued her steady practice and began to feel yoga’s physical benefits as well as its calming effects on her mind. As her children grew, Andrea dedicated more time to deepening her yoga practice. She started to feel an increasing drive to share the yoga experience with others, as she has personally observed its life-changing benefits on fellow yoga students, no matter their age or ability. She received her certificate to teach yoga in 2010 after completing the Yoga Shakti Advanced Teacher Training and Yoga Studies, and became a 500 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher in 2012.
Andrea also fell in love with teaching prenatal yoga to women that go through such a powerful and transformative time. She experienced the effects of yoga in her pregnancy, listening to her body in a whole new way. She is certified as a Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance. In 2013, Andrea taught kids yoga classes at Yoga Shakti, as a way to bring the benefits of the yoga practice to the young generation and her daughter. She hopes her students of all ages will embrace their yoga practice with the same joy, dedication, and love as she does, so they can experience the nurturing quality that comes from within.
Pre-Natal Yoga:
Specially designed for expecting mothers, this class prepares the body for the birthing and postpartum experiences. Prenatal yoga develops strength and stamina, increases body awareness, and deepens the bond between a mother and her baby. It has been shown to relieve many common discomforts during pregnancy, mindfully promote strength and flexibility of the body, and can reduce the risk of complications during the birthing process. For those desiring a natural birth, a regular prenatal yoga practice can also be a helpful precursor for the body, making the birthing process a more relaxed and joyful experience for mother and baby.
