Class Descriptions

Level 1 Gentle

Consists of easy movements, long stretches and deep breathing, meant to calm and revitalize your body and mind. This class is appropriate for students of every size, age and fitness level.

Level 1

Perfect for students who are new to the practice of yoga, these classes offer flowing movement at a gentle pace with detailed instruction and attention to principles of breathing and posture.

Level 1-2

These classes build greater strength, flexibility, and stamina, while still providing thorough instruction. Ideal for transitioning from beginning to intermediate level of practice, students will be exposed to stronger flow sequences and begin learning more advanced poses.

Level 2

Dynamic and rigorous vinyasa flow classes, linking one pose to the next continuously through breath and movement. With a cardiovascular element, these classes offer a challenge to intermediate to advanced students who have an understanding of the basics and are ready to deepen their practice. Students will be challenged with poses requiring greater strength, flexibility, stamina and focus.

Level 2 Shakti Yoga

Shakti Yoga is a meditative vinyasa flow. This unique practice infuses the physical intensity of a level 2 class with the meditative practices of Mantra and Pranayama, creating a perfect balance of working the body while calming the mind. A deep internal awareness is created through the weaving of Classical Sun Salutes, vinyasa flows, inversions, backbends, arm balances, hip openers and other classical poses. Complete with a deep guided relaxation, this powerful practice created by Master Yogi Jnana Nanda Bharati is based on the ancient Vedic, Tantric and Yogic traditions and offers the experience of the transformative aspects of an authentic yoga practice.

Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga

This class is open to all levels; you determine the intensity with which you work in each pose. No matter what your age or experience level, this practice will take you to your edge. You will discover strength and energy you never knew existed. BPVY involves Sun Salutations, Vinyasa flows, balance, breath and fun. It is a physical practice which taps into your mental and spiritual strength. You will sweat and twist and laugh and learn to live your
yoga and step into your power.

Anusara (Levels 1, 1-2, 2, 2-3)

Anusara means 'stepping into the flow of grace.' Founded by John Friend, Anusara is a powerful Hatha yoga system that unifies a Tantric philosophy of intrinsic goodness with universal principles of alignment. Classes are a celebration of life in all its wonderful diversity which honor the connection of body, mind and spirit. Consequently, students of all levels of ability and yoga experience are honored for their unique differences, limitations, and talents.

Level 2-3

Strong, high intensity flow style classes. Practitioners will be challenged with advanced poses that will increase their strength, stamina, flexibility and focus.

Shakti Yoga Youth Yoga Program

Shakti Yoga practice specially designed to help children develop calmness, focus and inner strength as well as build physical strength, stamina, balance, coordination and flexibility. Children connect with peers, have fun and develop leadership skills and wholesome lifestyle habits. Parent participation is welcomed and encouraged.

Prenatal Yoga

Specially designed for the pregnant body, this class prepares the mother-to-be for the birthing and postpartum experiences. Prenatal yoga develops strength and stamina, increased bodily awareness, and deepens the bond between a mother and her baby. The regular practice of yoga while pregnant supports those desiring a natural birth. It has been shown to relieve many common discomforts during pregnancy, and can reduce the risk of complications during the birthing process. Birth, when aided by yoga, can become a relaxed, focused and positive experience.

Pilates Mat

Pilates is a core physical conditioning exercise which lengthens the muscles, aligns the body and improves posture. It focuses on core abdominal strength as well as an entire body workout. It also improves coordination, flexibility, concentration, balance, and body- mind awareness.
