Introduction

Ashlee Goite:

Ashlee started practicing yoga 20 years ago. She was drawn to both the physical and philosophical aspects of the practice, as her new desk job left her craving more physical movement and the western philosophical perspective in general left her in search of more clarity and understanding.

She found her first Ashtanga teacher almost immediately and in that moment she was hooked. Here, she found the combination of an athletic movement practice and rich philosophical tradition she had been looking for! Through it, she found greater strength, flexibility and overall physical health, as well as the most useful tools for improving her understanding of her Self and her relationship with others.

The call to teach what she practices came to her in 2006, and she has been teaching ashtanga-based and vinyasa flow classes since 2007. Her long-time personal ashtanga practice informs all her teaching, although creative sequencing often weaves its way in, as well. The ashtanga method of tristana - breath, eye gaze, posture - is her focus in all her classes, encouraging her students to truly keep their minds in the present and uncover their truest selves in each moment, breath by breath.
